Strong Winds In California March 14th, 2023 #

On March 14th, 2023, as I sat in my car at the “Jack in the Box” fast-food drive-through, little did I know I would witness a rather unexpected event. The day started with strong winds that were whipping the power lines along the street, swaying them like pendulums in the air. As I waited in line for my order, my attention was drawn to the spectacle unfolding before me.

Suddenly, a loud crack echoed through the air, and I watched in awe as one of the wooden powerline poles, burdened by the relentless gusts, snapped at its peak. It came crashing down onto the street, still carrying live power lines that dangerously sprawled across the pavement. The fallen pole dragged the adjacent poles, causing them to tilt ever so slightly, adding to the surreal sight.

Traffic started backing up as the fallen pole now blocked the street.
